American Firearms Training Academy Hosts The Personal Defensive Pistol League At Our Indoor Gun Shooting Range
Personal Defensive Pistol League
Our Personal Defensive Pistol League is back by popular demand. This league is a scenario based move and shoot competition. Each shooter will be tasked with completing several courses of fire which will include shoot/don’t shoot targets, magazine changes, and malfunctions. These events are timed and scored by our instructors.
The Personal Defensive Pistol League is held bi-weekly on Thursday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm. In order to participate, you must sign up through our online enrollment linked here. The league fee will cover your fees for that current month. You are welcome to attend all of the current months competitions or just one. Due to the nature of this league, we ask that attendees register ahead of time in order for instructors to plan accordingly.
Group meets the second and fourth week of each month on Monday & Tuesday evenings 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm (Women Only). This league is open to all levels of shooters from beginner to experienced.
Green Island Recreational Lady Shooters
Activities and topics include Firearms Safety, Basic Marksmanship, Gun Cleaning, Firearms disassembly and assembly, drawing from a holster, Shooting for Fun – Variety of targets, variety of courses of fire.
Shooters will be challenged with timed and scored stages like many competitive pistol shooting events such as Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the International Defense Pistol Association (IDPA). Whether or not you are a competitive shooter looking for a chance to practice and compete, or new to competitive shooting the AFTA Action Target Pistol League is your opportunity to enjoy the sport and enhance your skills.
Shooters can use their own pistol and ammunition or rent a pistol and purchase ammunition from AFTA. Target size and style will vary, from ricochet free knock down “plates”, dueling trees, and “pepper poppers” to silhouettes.
There are no restrictions on the barrel length of the pistol and accessories to include scopes and other optics.
Shooter will shoot 5 Stages.
Estimated Round Count: 125 – 150 rounds (any rimfire caliber is OK.)
Description:
Shooters will be allowed 5 stages of shooting during which their Estimated Round Count will be between 125 – 150 rounds. Any rimfire caliber is acceptable during these stages. Shooters will test their marksmanship using our NRA 50-foot indoor silhouette target course. Shooters will be scored by the number of hits on target and hits breaking the edge of the target as defined by NRA Rules. These shooting stages are designed for all skill levels and all age groups. Whether or not you are a competitive shooter looking for a new challenge, or a new shooter looking for a different way to hone your skills, AFTA’s Silhouette League is your opportunity to enjoy the sport and enhance your skills.
Additional Info:
Shooters can use their own pistol or rifle and ammunition or rent a pistol or rifle and purchase ammunition from AFTA. Targets will be the standard NRA TQ-12, TQ-13 and TQ-14. There are no restrictions on the barrel length of the pistol and accessories to include scopes and other optics.
Prerequisites:
• NYS Pistol Permit if using a handgun.
Recommended Equipment:
• Pistol or Rifle, rimfire only
• Electronic Hearing Protection
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses, or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement
